Island Drive: A Weekend Getaway House
You know those instances where you approach a situation thinking “oh, this is perfect-we ONLY need it for…”. Yeah, well this lake house was ONLY going to be for an occasional weekend getaway-someplace to escape the city and leave all your cares behind. So while this home was slightly dated, it had the right space requirements for this family with 3 boys (& all their friends) and it was ONLY a rarely used second home. Until this family decided lake life suited them more than city life and they decided to permanently leave the city behind and lean into their next chapter.
Initially, the project scope was small-very minor tweaks ONLY in the main living area - yeah, that didn’t last long. This project quickly morphed into a complete gut & remodel inside and out and by the time we were done not an inch of this house remained untouched. Our end result is almost unrecognizable from where we began-big sweeping changes not only from an aesthetic standpoint but a
massive improvement in functionality. No shoes, no shirt, just perfect. This is going to be an amazing next chapter!
